Update from the Island

Hey everyone. How's the interwebs been while I was gone? I'm at the Library again so I can get wireless while the boyfriend is biking the town. No pictures for you, I haven't done much today or yesterday.

We're going to rent a kayak tomorrow from this really sweet lady who liked my necklace. It's 36$ for both of us to go for an hour, but it'll be mega fun. I used to kayak all the time, since my family owned one when we lived in Seattle. I grew up on the Beach (no, really... we lived in a house where the garden ended in sand and surf) and we had a kayak that I'd gotten for my dad for fathers day. We would go out all the time during the summer, either both paddling or with me in my swimsuit holding on to the back and occasionally swimming around as he floated and smoked a cigar.

No matter what shit I may go through because of my family, I did have it good as a kid. I'm not deluded enough to think that I didn't.

So we're going kayaking tomorrow and then to the lake to swim, if the weather holds. We may continue to shell out cash to get a paddle boat there, but I'm not sure.

We're pretty much having an amazing vacation, and the boyfriend reappeared.

So I'm heading out.

DAYS ONE AND TWO!

Hey everyone! I'm on the Island and chilling at the Library so I can get internet to post this. Then I'm headed back to the cabin before going to the beach. Instead of the 100+ weather at home, it's a nifty 65 degrees here and overcast. Got my bike fixed and the boyfriend and I are going biking tonight. Lake tomorrow than hopefully reconnect with a long-lost (okay, so two years lost) friend who I've missed more than anything.

It was the boyfriends first road trip, first time driving through Portland and Seattle, first Ferry Boat ride, first... well, a lot of things, including Ivars Clam Chowder!

Here are the pics I've taken so far:
DAY ONE:

The boyfriend not waking up...

At breakfast at Denny's

Janis (the Volvo...) broke down. Again.

She was fixed by some nice guys in Roseburg, a few hours outside of my home town...

Boyfriend was entertaining himself.

Lunch at Burgerville

The first of a few pictures of a random Michael Jackson truck we saw...

Next picture

Next picture. You cant see it, but there's a statue on there.

Next picture.

HOOTERS! Haha we passed so many of those on our way to Seattle...

My car at nearly midnight on our way to Seattle after our breakdown. We were behind schedule...

DAY TWO:

On our way to Anacortes...

Kevin with his hat.

VIDEO GAMES. Again. (In line for the Ferry)

Hey look, it's me!

Leaving the dock on our way to Orcas.

Off the back of the boat

SNEAK ATTACK! Picture of boyfriend and his chowder haha.

He's obsessed.

The two of us on the back deck (I look so tired!) and his chowder. AGAIN. Haha.

More chowder. He looks concerned this time...

Candy on the boat. Starbursts I think.

I told him there was a sailboat coming up. He got excited.

The sailboat. Incase you were curious.

ME!!

Me. Taken by the boyfriend. Haha.

He's got a one track mind...

Making silly faces.

The Ferry!

Looking over the railing at the back of the boat.

More leaning.

Back in the car, waiting to dock, and playing MORE video games.

Last night before I went into the cabin. The boyfriend's sleeping out in the Yurt and I'm in my old room.

Well, that's it. I'm off to continue my adventure.

AAAAHHHHHH!!!!!

Guess who just ordered their Warped Tour tickets???? *happy dance*

I'm SOOOOO excited.

I'm heading up to Seattle tomorrow morning, staying down town for one night, heading to the Island for a few days, coming back down the ninth and on the fourteenth I'm heading to Hillsboro for the festival.

Anyone else going?

AAAAH I'M SO EXCITED!!!!!!

So I'm going to get off the computer, finish watching Little Miss Sunshine, go get my car set up, then get down to doing laundry so I can get the hell out of this town for a few days!

I'll post a ton of pictures when I take them.

For now, I leave you with the pictures from the winery I went to last night:

An accidentally sparkling Rosé Wine that was flat gorgeous.

The rows of vines

The Sun

Strawberries. :p Or what's left of them...

Out in the All Terrain Golf Cart with Roy (one of my lovely gay friends who own the place) and some of his friends.

My friends own it (my mothers friends...) and I go there a lot, but this was the first time I took pictures.

I want to be in a band...

I've always wanted to be in a band for as long as I can remember. In the summer of 2007, I went to an all girls summer camp, dubbed "rock'n'roll girls camp", and formed a band with a handful of girls who were younger than me (as all of the girls my age were already friends with each other), wrote a song, and got up on stage to sing it.

This is the theater where they let me loose on the world with a song called Carbon Copies.
Please note, I was 15 so it wasn't going to be the best written song on the planet.
Aaaaand the camp director made me re-write it with the help of my band mates.
So it turned out sort of shit.
One of the girls named us The Stereotypes...
Not my first choice.
Or second.
Or third.
I'm going to shut up now.
I haven't heard from anyone from there in years and now I want a real band.

A real band where we can play the songs I want.
Covers of such brilliant works as...

*Hold Me Tight by The Beatles
*Goin' Down by The Pretty Reckless
*Blood-Spattered Sundress by Schoolyard Heroes
*What New York Used to Be by The Kills
*Cherry Bomb by The Runaways
*Howl by Florence And the Machine
And many many more.

And on top of that, there's the songs I write.

My most recent song is titled Dear Effy Stonem. It's my ode to the tortured, hedonistic soul of the Skins character who I've been intrigued with since the first series came out and she snuck into the house after nights of raves and didn't speak to anybody, and her decent into who she was at the end of series four, when she'd attempted to kill herself, lost so many people who meant the most to her and suffered a complete breakdown.
If it seems like an odd topic, then you haven't gotten inside my head recently.

Effy Stonem

Queen Bee, lost soul... drug addict... mental patient...
Effy Stonem is a lot of things.
In the universe of the E4 drama Skins, she's the younger sister of Tony Stonem.
She's quiet even at her loudest.
At 14 she was sneaking into her house after raves.
She was 'kidnapped' and injected with an overdose of medical grade drugs by a psychotic ex boyfriend of her brothers girlfriend.
She never spoke.
Ever.
She watched her brother get hit by a bus and nearly die.
She helped him afterwards.
At 15, she was fixing everyone
She was still helping Tony.
Started helping Sid, his best friend.
Helping Cassie.
She befriended Pandora and helped her pass her art course.
She did a lot of watching, noticing and fixing.
She held the house together - kind of - while her mother took her brothers sleep aids and didn't leave bed and her father was gone because he didn't know how to deal with a son who'd been hit by a bus.
At 16 her father left because her mother was sleeping with his friend Steve.
She met two boys - Cook and Freddie - who she fell in love with.
More so Freddie.
She watched Freddie date Katie.
She bashed Katie over the head with a rock while on a really bad trip the same night she found out they were dating, all while on a camping trip.
She lost all of her friends.
Ran away with her mother to Italy over the summer.
At 17, she was broken.
She finally started dating Freddie.
But fell into hedonistic... something.
She became suicidal.
Freddie tried to save her.
He couldn't
She was institutionalized.
Her therapist killed Freddie.

Effy Stonem...
She was by far the most complicated character on the show and I'm sad that her four years (though it would normally only be two) ended.

Anyways.
I lost my train of thought.

Right.
Band.
I want.
Ehem.

So I'm going to abandon my blog and get back to my song-writing, Haven watching, Skins obsessing self.

I do have work in the morning anyways.

Here they are...

More pictures from today!
I went a little photo-happy, but I'm pretty proud of some of the results! I got three pictures of me that I'm proud of, plus a ton of great one's of my boyfriend on his bike.

ENJOY!

Trying out tricks

*look of concentration*

"I think I can, I think I can..."

Tired...

HI!

The dress I'm wearing? Boyfriends new shirt. Hehe...

HI EVERYBODY! My favorite pic of me that I took.

Hope everyone's having a fabulous summer. Work and picking up my car tomorrow instead of today, then staying the night out, then I've got to fix up the car with a few accessories and then time to pack for my trip. We leave Tuesday, but there's no such thing as too soon!
